Goal

This year my Early Childhood classroom has embedded a Story Time STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) program within our curriculum. The use of ipads as a technology resource to enhance the activities during our small group learning would enrich this new program.  

 

What will be done with my students

Children will work collaboratively within small groups using ipads to view digital stories. I would like to integrate apps specific to Nursery Rhymes as well apps supporting Letter recognition and Early math concepts. Students will have opportunities to collaboratively engage in these digital programs as well as utilize tools available on the ipad such as the photos and video capabilities to make recordings of collaborative conversations and story retelling.  

 

Benefits to my students

Children will engage in fun and developmentally appropriate learning activities using technology to support the Story Time STEAM program.  

 

Describe the Students

Our class consists of both General education and Exceptional education students. Student abilities range from low to high performance. We would like to use this technology to extend the learning experience for our higher leveled performers and help lower leveled performers get excited by learning through a digital source. Children love to play, providing a new technological resource would help us achieve our goal of providing multiple ways to incorporate learning through play.
