Goal

Goal is to help offset the costs of items that are necessary to play an instrument. This grant would help our program by allowing us to buy supplies such as reeds, cork grease, and mouthpieces that can be used for the class.  

 

What will be done with my students

This would be a kickstart to being able to permanently have a supply area within the class that would be a benefit to all levels. For the beginners, having the proper number of reeds and mouthpieces will allow us to safely try each instrument, rather than having to choose. For more advanced students, this would become a permanent place for them to be able to get quality equipment without the worries of having to find quality places to get them online.  

 

Benefits to my students

Students often decide not to continue in band due to some of the financial stresses that it can add, and an expected outcome is to see that decrease. Additionally, students who normally would only be able to buy one reed for an entire grading period would be able to learn how to rotate and take care of multiple reeds which will also increase student performance.

Budget Narrative

This budget represents the most common reed types purchased to support the program. Due to the demographic of the school, it is common for students to be unable to purchase these necessary items for their instrument. The band director has historically created systems within the classroom to help relieve the students of this burden. Students are given a reed approximately once or twice a month, however they are encouraged to purchase their reeds on their own on a more regular basis as they can. This budget would primarily help support those who are unable to purchase their own supplies on a regular basis.
