Goal

I would like to bring the Girls on the Run program to San Jose Elementary School. The cost is $150 per girl for a ten week program (twice a week). I can have up to 15 girls in the program. Even if I don't have enough to cover each girls cost 100%, at least I can make it more affordable with the $1000 grant. 

 

What will be done with my students

The girls meet twice a week and go thru an amazing curriculumn about many probalems and challenges facing girls. Running and exercises are incorporated with every lesson.The girls get a snack before every meeting. We then join all the Girls on the Run groups from several different counties to all run a 5K together. There will be two coaches that are volunteers and do not get paid any money thru the girls entrance fee. The fee pays for the snacks, an individual notebook per girl that have weekly lessons we all do together and the 5k run at the end of the program.  

 

Benefits to my students

The program is absolutley amazing in helping girls cope with difficulties they will face. The girls will practice running and build up to a 5K race that we all run together! The benifit is having each girl know that they are never alone and always have tools in their toolbox when they are struggling.  

 

Describe the Students

My girls are in a title 1 school. The program is open to 15 girls from 3 - 5th grade. The program is done both in the Fall and Spring.  

 

Budget Narrative

The program is for 15 girls at $150 each. I would like to get the grant so that I can offer the program at a discounted rate.
