Goal

I would like to purchase a variety of educational board games and STEM/building kits to allow my K-5 students, many who are English Language Learners to be engaged in learning new words and concepts and improving socialization skills too. 

 

What will be done with my students

I will use the games to supplement lessons and increase student engagement. Student Experience is a big part of what makes Pinellas County Schools effective in educating our students. With games and STEM kits, learning will be fun and students will love learning. 

 

Benefits to my students

My students will benefit from the socialization aspect of using games to learn with others and will expand their vocabularies, increase and build on concept knowledge while improving their math and reading skills in a fun way. They will make closer connections with classmates, improve their socialization skills, and be more motivated to attend school every day because it is fun to learn with friends! 

 

Describe the Students

Many of my students are ELL, average to high performing in some areas, weaker in others. Some are gifted but not always high achieving, some are talented, and all will enjoy learning even more while playing games or constructing things with their friends. Working and playing together allows them to recognize the importance of taking turns, playing fair and cooperating with others. These skills are much needed in our society today. 

 

Budget Narrative

The total for all these wonderful educational, critical and creative thinking activities is only $824.36 and these can be enjoyed by a new group of students every year for many years to come.
