Goal
My goal for this year is to increase reading and writing among my students of all levels. The ability to use games and various strategies during small group will allow for more engagement and hopefully retention of material.
What will be done with my students
I will be using ELA "popcorn" type games that deal with a variety of ELA topics: comprehension, relevant details, proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Lakeshore learning has a variety of tub type games that help students to understand these topics. I will also be using the math folders during math small group in order to identify and address any deficits.
Benefits to my students
By the end of the year, I hope to see my students move up at least three levels in their reading as well as improving their FAST scores for both ELA and math. My wish is that when they go into fourth grade, that they will be at or above the state & county standards.
Describe the Students
I have one ESE student with a 504 plan; she will be getting pulled during small group. The remaining 18 range from 1st grade reading levels to that of 4th graders.
