Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 30

Every year Juniors and Seniors are working to improve their SAT scores in hopes of getting into a college or earning a scholarship.  I use these books during SAT prep sessions that are conducted outside of school hours.  Students are also allowed to take the books with them to continue studying at home.

This is a great resource especially for low income families that can't afford to purchase prep materials.

Thank You!

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Improve student scores on the math portion of the SAT

What will be done with my students

I hold SAT math preparation sessions every fall and spring prior to the major SAT events. These are done at the request of students that are trying to improve their SAT scores. They are conducted Wednesday after school and / or Saturday moring. I use problems from the SAT prep books to review concepts and also allow students to check out the prep books for additional individual study.

Benefits to my students

The SAT preparation books have 3 full length practice tests as well as sections that review all major concepts covered on the SAT. Every problem in the book has a detailed explaination of how to find the proper solution. Attendence at these sessions has helped numorous students improve their SAT score and get into the college of choice or recieve a higher level of the Bright Futures Scholarship.

Budget Narrative

THe NEF funded a similar request in 2017, but the books are becoming worn or were not returned by students. This grant will help replentish my stock and ensure every student that want to study for the SAT can easily do it.
