Goal

The students will be able to listen to oral step by step instructions and follow them to create a canvas through art.

What will be done with my students

The students will be instructed on how to paint using step by step instructions from an art instructor. The students get their own paint materials and a canvas to paint on. This will enhance their understanding of artists and how the boy in the story "The Dot" feels about his artwork.

Benefits to my students

After a Reading lesson on the story "The Dot" and a social studies unit on artists, the students will be able to fell like an artist themselves.

Budget Narrative

The instructor and art materials are $5 a student. We would like to do it as a grade level. We have approximately 18 students in each class. We have 6 first grade classes.
