I firmly believe that children need a hands on approach to learning. My goal is to be able to have the materials needed to allow my students to actually visualize, hold, and construct what we are discussing in class. I would also like to be able to provide differentiated and fun instruction for my students by being able to provide them with different math games and activities that will spark their interest. These games and hands-on materials will be used in my math centers and will allow students to work together and see the real-life application of math in their daily lives.

Goal

I firmly believe that children need a hands on approach to learning. My goal is to be able to have the materials needed to allow my students to actually visualize, hold, and construct what we are discussing in class. I would also like to be able to provide differentiated and fun instruction for my students by being able to provide them with different math games and activities that will spark their interest. These games and hands-on materials will be used in my math centers and will allow students to work together and see the real-life application of math in their daily lives. 

 

What will be done with my students

My classroom is run using mostly small group instruction. These materials I have requested will be used as part of their center time. The students will be provided the opportunity to hold 3-D shapes instead of trying to visualize them on paper. They will be able to see cross sections with the manipulatives provided. They will be able to use the tools to construct different shapes and apply the formulas they have learned. The games and activity books will be used at the stations as well during small group instruction. 

 

Benefits to my students

These games, hands-on manipulatives, tools, and books will provide my students with a fun and engaging way to learn our math standards. I believe it will also spark a much greater interest in math when they can connect what they are learning to real world experiences. All of my students as well as my fellow teachers will benefit from these materials as I will gladly share my ideas and plans with my fellow teachers.

I am requesting games, materials, manipulatives, and tools for small group instruction from EAI Education. All materials purchased will be used for years to come in my classroom in our learning centers.
