Goal

Students need materials to enrich the Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies curriculum in our classroom. We need manipulatives and activities to engage student's today and allow for students to build their academic performance. Many of our students lack experiences due to economic and social backgrounds. We hope to bridge the gaps with materials and activities that are encouraging students to work together, communicate and build their knowledge base.

What will be done with my students

Students will be offered a variety of materials to build their vocabulary and skills. Some ideas we have are to add a register in housekeeping to allow for role playing, math, and becoming familiar with money. Adding stem materials into our lessons for problem solving in nursery rhymes and stories. For example, building a safe place for the gingerbread man to get away from the fox. Having a globe accessible to allow students to explore and visualize where different cultures/traditions originate from and familiarize themselves with oceans/continents.
Add sensory areas for students to explore and discover different textures and allow ESE students a place to calm down and release tension.
Science materials to allow students to explore the subjects and areas being studied.

Benefits to my students

These activities and items will allow my student to build experiences, vocabulary, and academic areas through play and exploration. Students will be able to apply skills being taught in the classroom through self led activities and role play real life situations.

Describe the Students

We have 2 students that require more intervention being as one uses a wheel chair full-time and the other has been diagnosed with Austism/ADHD, both receive OT services.
