Goal

To incorporate a project-based STEM project including mathematics through budgeting.

What will be done with my students

Students will be required to complete floor plans of a home, list materials, and create a budget for the build to include materials, permits, labor, etc.

Benefits to my students

Students will combine mathematics with science, technology, and engineering in a project-based lesson. Through utilizing math skills in a relevant and rigorous project students will employ and discover the usefulness of algebra, geometry, and budgeting.

Describe the Students

Medium to high performing students.

Budget Narrative

True Scale House Framing Kits (7 Kits @ $129 ea.) $903, Additional / Replacement Nails (7 packs @ $7 ea.) $49, Wood Glue, Gallon (2 @ 21.25 ea.) $42.50. Total $994.50.

The amount of nails and glue included in the kits are insufficient to complete the projects therefore additional supplies are necessary.
