Goal

My goal is to create thriving and creative minds in our young men, while equipping them life skills and techniques to reach success.

What will be done with my students

Students meet weekly to discuss academic progress and develop strategies for life long school success. In addition we collaborate to develop life, social and emotional skills, on the foundation of a positive mindset. With this collaboration the leaders of the 5000 Role models hope to break the cycle of traumatic experiences.

Benefits to my students

Upon beginning this mentorship program, scholars were seen as behavior students with undeveloped self regulation and lack of social and emotional skills. The detailed regiment of this mentorship program has allowed our scholars to thrive not only socially and emotionally, but also academically. With completion of this program, students will receive support by mentors and community leaders to develop life-long skills for success.

Describe the Students

The background of our scholars does not start only at school, but these scholars come from low socio-economic families. Scholars have experienced traumatic experiences, neglect, and abuse. As 5th graders, students are performing well below grade level due to severe family experiences. Out of all students, 40% of students are ESE and one has just exited ESOL services.

Budget Narrative

I will utilize these funds to ensure that these young men are equipped with the necessary tools to be successful. Many of these young men don't know what it feels like to wear a belt and necktie, but it is my goal to show these scholars what professionalism looks like. As a positive role model in these scholars' lives, it is my duty to ensure that they are surrounded with positivity and successful men in our community. I will use these funds to make sure students have all items to be prepared for dress to impress weekly. Additional funds will be utilized for future projects completed by the 5000 Role Models. I truly appreciate your consideration and hope that you take our request into consideration for the better making of our young men.
