Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 16

The impact of this grant for the project "They Are Counting On Me" has been tremendous. Students from all levels have been engaged in learning while using these math manipulatives. Students need time to practice the math skills especially counting and with these materials my students are participating and making learning gains. Students are able to independently practice so that I can have small groups for math. As a result of this project, students are meeting the kindergarten math expectations in more areas than at the beginning of the year. The materials bought for this project will continue to impact many kindergarten students in the future. Thank you so much for supporting education and making learning math fun.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

This project will enrich my Math Centers by providing students with fun and engaging activities that reinforce the math skills they will need to become great mathematicians.

What will be done with my students

Kindergarten students learn best with hands on activities. This project will provide my class with a variety of materials to keep them engaged as they practice math skills independently. Students will be able to practice counting by choosing from an assortment of math bins. The assortment of materials will help keep them focused and actively engaged as they become proficient at counting.

Benefits to my students

This project will have many benefits for my kindergarten students as they build a strong foundation in math. Students benefit most from hands on activities. These activities would reinforce what I am teaching in whole group as well as small group. This project will allow me to provide my students with a variety of choices to help them practice counting and not get bored.

Describe the Students

I have 16 motivated and enthusiastic learners. One of them comes from a home where English is not the primary language. Another student receives Special Education support. For almost half of my class, this is their first experience in an educational setting. All of my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

Budget Narrative

The funds from this project will be used to build a stronger math foundation in my kindergarten students by purchasing math manipulatives and center activities that support our math curriculum
