Goal

This project will introduce our kindergarten students to the basic concepts associated with financial literacy and help all students achieve success with mathematic standards and benchmarks.
Through this program we will teach students about money and math while deepening student learning through movement and mindfulness.

What will be done with my students

This project will allow us to teach our students the basics of how to count money, identify coins and make “smart money choices” by adding an online program ‘Go Noodle Plus’ to the math curriculum that the county provides.
Go Noodle Plus is an online program that integrates academic concepts and lessons with music and movement activities, games, and exercises in an extremely FUN and engaging way.
Through this program our students will have the opportunity to participate in interactive learning games and “mega math marathons.” Teachers will be using the program to introduce and review academic concepts, to add movement and excitement to classroom lessons and to engage reluctant learners.
This program is so much fun and so engaging for students! For example, our students will have the opportunity to “Getcha Money Right” with guided dancing activities. They will get to “Double Your Money” with ‘brain gym’ gross motor skills and will integrate math and money concepts in “Mega Math Marathons.”
We are so excited that our students will get to move, sing, dance and learn to love math in a new way through this project!

Benefits to my students

This project will benefit our students in so many exciting ways! This program will allow teachers to accommodate a wide variety of learning styles while making students active learners in FUN and engaging activities.
This program will increase our students’ knowledge about the basics of counting money, different types of money and addition and subtraction concepts using money.
While engaging in academic tasks, students will also be working on:
-Body coordination, growth mindset, and mindfulness activities that are designed to enhance focus, confidence and self-control.
-Sensory and motor skills designed to enhance body awareness, balance and coordination.
-Memory, stretching, brain-based learning exercises.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of this program is how much students love this program. Students will be incredibly motivated and engaged in these activities which promote true comprehension and excitement about learning.

Describe the Students

I have a very energetic and inquisitive class that is ready and eager to learn. Seventy percent of my class qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Three of my students receive additional support from special education teachers. For three of my students, English is their second language. Our school is a Title I school which means that a high number of our students qualify for free lunch.

Budget Narrative

Go Noodle Plus will increase our students' knowledge about money and gets them moving at the same time.
