I would like our Pre-K classes to be able to deepen their knowledge of health and wellness through creating an indoor/outdoor garden. I would like to be able to purchase materials to start and maintain a small garden containing vegetables and some fruits to help the students understand where, and how healthy food comes from and what is involved in the growing process

Goal

I would like our Pre-K classes to be able to deepen their knowledge of health and wellness through creating an indoor/outdoor garden. I would like to be able to purchase materials to start and maintain a small garden containing vegetables and some fruits to help the students understand where, and how healthy food comes from and what is involved in the growing process

What will be done with my students

: I would like to purchase soil, pots, garden tools, watering cans, and plants/seeds for the students to take an active part in the growing and maintaining of the fruits and vegetables. They will explore the life cycle of plants as they care for them and harvest the produce.

Benefits to my students

They will deepen their knowledge as they begin to understand the process of replanting the next generation of seeds to continue the cycle. They will also learn how these healthy foods help maintain our bodies and help us to grow strong in mind and body.

Describe the Students

4 Blended Pre-K classes, 3 VPK classes with a blend of 6 ESE and 14 Gen Ed students in each class; and 1 3/4 Blended Pre-k class with 6 ESE students and 8 Gen Ed students

Budget Narrative

We will purchase the pots, cans, soil, and seeds/plants to help our student explore the concept of maintaining our bodies in healthy ways and deepen their knowledge to help them explore the results of healthy lifestyles and what we can achieve with our healthy minds and bodies.
