Goal

The STEM after school program will go on a field trip to Astro Skate.

What will be done with my students

The field trip entails a 3 hour field trip with equal time being spent doing an educational STEM lesson in a classroom setting followed by an opportunity to apply those learned skills while skating.

Benefits to my students

This field trip will show students how Astro Skate uses science, technology and engineering to run their fun centers. The students will also solve real world math problems that would occur everyday in the skating centers.

Describe the Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best second grade class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do anything.

I teach at a Title I school in Florida where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

Many of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school, because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

Budget Narrative

The cost to ride the Astro Skate bus and attend the Astro Skate field trip is $11.00 per child. The cost includes the transportation as well as a snack for the children.
