Goal

To purchase books for my classroom to support curriculum. I would like a class set of Project Mulberry.

What will be done with my students

Students will use the books to help them learn more about science, social studies and language arts. The book is life science topic and about a Korean girl in a narrative book. I use it currently but have to borrow enough copies for my class. Students incorporate reading skills while reading about the book and I tie in life science content related to science that we are learning about.

Benefits to my students

Students get to read an interesting book about a girl from Korea. This is book helps students understand more about Asian cultures which, we have a population of Asian students at our school. Students can relate to events in the story. I feel this book is culturally responsive and ties in life science. In 5th grade students take the State Science test so having additional literature helps students to enhance their learning.

Describe the Students

I have 5 ESOL students, 2 ESE students. 5 high performing and 17 low performing.
