Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 7

I am so grateful for the generous gift to sponsor my grant request for the iPad and protective case.  With the iPad I have been able to do things with my special needs Autistic students to help enrich their education.  Many of my students are non-verbal, so the iPad also helps them to express themselves and show me things of their interest.  We are able to work on things together that we would not have not been able to otherwise.  I have also been able to download applications beneficial to Autistic students with the iPad.  We are really thankful for your generosity that will help support my classroom for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Mr. Robert Spartz

Original Grant Overview

Goal

Remember sitting in a classroom and not having all the tools you needed to help you learn... Well in today's classrooms an iPad can be used with each interactive board activity, help my students to communicate, and so much more...

What will be done with my students

Have you ever been timid to go in front of the class when you were a student? Well students with Autism can be the same way. With an iPad I can bring the curriculum on the board mirrored right to their desk. They can make choices on the iPad as if directly chosen right from the board. I can also load interactive activities onto the iPad through ITunes designed for Autistic students. An iPad in my classroom will help make a difference in my students educational choices. It will be a daily tool used to help in their growth as the year goes on.

With an iPad in my classroom I can make a greater impact on all of my students.

Benefits to my students

I will be able to load programs and activities on the iPad that are designed to work with students with Autism. I can also provide sensory programs that are so important to Autistic students as well with an iPad. My students are all what are considered non verbal, so an iPad can be loaded with software that helps to assist with their communication needs. Its hard to express the right details how greatly an iPad can positively impact a classroom of Autistic students. Fulfilling this request will make a difference in the lives of my students this year and beyond.

Describe the Students

I am a Teacher in a classroom of students with Autism at a center school for special needs students.

My class contains High School students that are faced with many challenges in life. My goal is to bring as many viable choices to the students to help them learn in all ways possible. These students need many visuals to help with their learning experience and a classroom with an iPad can bring so much more to help and support their needs. By increasing the tools I can use with my class, the better I will be able to reach each student. This iPad will greatly help the students learn the curriculum I teach.
