The goal of this grant is to provide the children of my classroom with school supplies for next year. Many students in my school last year did not purchase school supplies for the classroom. This year, my goal is for every student to have all their own materials for interactive journaling and data collection already paid for so that is one less worry they will have coming into the third grade!

Goal

The goal of this grant is to provide the children of my classroom with school supplies for next year. Many students in my school last year did not purchase school supplies for the classroom. This year, my goal is for every student to have all their own materials for interactive journaling and data collection already paid for so that is one less worry they will have coming into the third grade!

What will be done with my students

I will use the materials to create interactive ELA and Math journals that will help students expand their knowledge in the given areas. I will also use these materials to create data binders for Marzano for the students to track their own progress.

Benefits to my students

Interactive journaling will increase my students understanding of the ELA and Math standards in order to be successful in the third grade. Interactive journaling allows students to create their own meaning from the things they are learning in my classroom. These journals are a fun way to introduce the concept of taking notes and organizing their ideas into one. They help students focus and remember key points because they are actively involved. Interactive journals and data binders will help the students interact with all of the data kinesthetically, which in turn will help them retain more information. My ELL students will also benefit from the combination of the written language form, the images and the mini lesson. Having these back to school supplies will also promote my students to feel successful not only within the classroom but being prepared for school every day.

Describe the Students

The students in my classroom are very diverse with a mix of low and high performers. Most students come from a lower socio-economic status. I had 18 students in my class last year and I provided out of my own money for all 18. Only about 4 brought in all the supplies needed. My school provided some with the rest.

Budget Narrative

I will use the $100 to provide classroom materials for my students from Office Depot or Walmart.
