The Hawk Wrestlers are looking to raise funds in order to improve and grow as a team. Our ultimate goal is to be one of the most competitive squads in the state of Florida. This can be difficult as our sport does not thrive on popularity like other sports. Our athletes practice Mondays thru Thursdays 3-6pm, and usually give up Fridays and Saturdays for competitions. And during the off season many continue to dedicate two days a week toward training, as well as one or two weekends a month competing. This past off season we took our first wrestler to the Junior Nationals in Virginia Beach, and two more to Pre-season nationals in Iowa. We are not funded by the school district, and raising necessary funds for these events is often cumbersome due to the fact that we are the smallest team in the school with one of the largest budgets. We are requesting funding for our team to buy new warm-ups, training equipment, and have the opportunity to travel and compete as a team not only this season but to camps in the off-season in order to benefit us long term.

Goal

The Hawk Wrestlers are looking to raise funds in order to improve and grow as a team. Our ultimate goal is to be one of the most competitive squads in the state of Florida. This can be difficult as our sport does not thrive on popularity like other sports. Our athletes practice Mondays thru Thursdays 3-6pm, and usually give up Fridays and Saturdays for competitions. And during the off season many continue to dedicate two days a week toward training, as well as one or two weekends a month competing. What will be done with my students

The Wrestling team is currently in a rebuilding year. Many of our athletes are not only Freshman, but new to the sport entirely. We work year round training and competing in order to become the best we can be on the mat. In the past few seasons we have accomplished levels of success never seen in school history. We have consistently qualified multiple wrestlers to compete in the FHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Three of those wrestlers were successful enough to place in the top 6 in their weight class. This was the first time in school history that any wrestler has come home with a medal. This, however, does not come at a small price. Most of the money raised here will go towards improving our training facility and providing much needed funds to travel to competitions. This year the team is striving to enter more tournaments and attend an off-season camp with World/Olympic/NCAA Champion Kyle Snyder. Here the wrestlers will learn valuable skills that will help them work toward their goals of winning a state title and building a championship program.

Benefits to my students

The Hawk Wrestlers hope to compete on the highest level while at the same time inspire others to attempt the sport. If we are able to meet our budget needs and obtain the much needed equipment, along with the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete on a national level then our team will gain even more valuable experiences and interactions not only with one another, but also learn much more from the vast experience of world renown athletes/coaches. They will also experience more diverse interactions with others by traveling and interacting with teams from all over the world.

Budget Narrative

The Hawk Wrestling team does not receive any funding from the school or the school district. Last year the students were able to raise money needed through off-campus car washes and soliciting donations from local companies in exchange for advertising at tournaments we competed in and advertising on our campus. Fundraising continues one of our biggest challenges as a team. If we meet our goal, we intend appropriate the funds to the following:

# Item Cost
1 JV States $360.00
