Project Goal

The goal of this project is to secure 2 laptop computers and a color printer for use in our 2D/3D Visual Arts department. These computers will be used to teach students job skills they will need in this new digital age. This will not only prepare them for a brighter future but will motivate students in our Title 1 school to pursue careers in art related career fields.

How Project Benefits Students

6th, 7th and 8th grade students in Visual Arts classes will benefit from using technology that will run the variety of programs used by professionals in current art career fields. These programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere, to name a few, offer hands on experience and even professional certification for Adobe software that the students can use when trying to get hired into a digital art job. Many of these students are from underprivileged homes and have limited opportunities. In addition, being able to say that they are certified in a skill that is not something that every student at every school can say it will help them to gain confidence that they can rise above their piers and succeed in the world in ways they might not see as a current opportunity.

Expected Outcome(s)

Increased excitement in art class, and increased use of technology that will create more future opportunities for children that are struggling to close the achievement gap.
