The Breakout EDU Kit is a unique collection of resettable locks, boxes, and items that can be used to play immersive learning games. The digital platform has games for all subjects. The platform provides hundreds of physical and digital games that are sure to keep students excited about media center informational technology lessons. My goal is to have 6 physical Breakout lock boxes at our school in order to implement active participation during media lessons. Breakout activities offer rigor in a fun way that encourage multiple modes of learning in a collaborative setting. Breakout lessons offer something for every student no matter what their style of learning. Students become active participants during Breakout lessons gaining personal value and academic knowledge in the process. The supporting state standard relating to Breakout lessons is: LAFS.5.RI.3.7: Draw on information from multiple print or digital sources, demonstrating the ability to locate an answer to a question quickly or to solve a problem efficiently.

How Project Benefits Students

Breakout is immersive learning games platform that is transforming teaching and learning in classrooms around the world. Each team of students have a lock box with 5 different locks along with clues to solve in order to breakout of the final box! I have had the privilege of participating in both the physical and digital Breakout EDU trainings through out HCPS district professional development. My knowledge of this program with the Breakout lock boxes and digital platform access I will be able to offer students exciting media technology lessons in the media center. Students will use critical thinking skills and teamwork to solve problems together. The benefits to our students will be numerous as they use logic and analytical thinking skills.

Expected Outcome(s)

Our media lessons will be enriched with fun and engaging elements as our students work together to solve problems. I anticipate our students will look forward to media lessons using Breakout! The 6 box kit I would like to have for our school will allow me to have 6 teams of students working together along with access to a digital platform that offers hundreds of lessons that are organized by subject, grade level, and seasons.
