Project Goal

Increase students engagement and introduce students to STEAM related career fields. We are currently using code. org and the dash robot, or a similar coding robot will allow the students to practice the skills and see them come to life

How Project Benefits Students

Working at a low socio-economic school, I need to expose my students to curriculum that can help develop and expand on their creativity and problem-solving skills. The more engaged a student is the more they will work and learn. Incorporating STEAM education into my classroom will increase the attendance, engagement, and participation. STEAM education can provide low performing students a chance to experience success. Providing students with multiple ways to communicate can allow students to use their strengths. The school district has provided the students with the opportunity to use coding. With the funding, I can bring the application of the coding project to life with a dash robot. The dash robot will give the students a chance to explore the concepts they are learning on the coding website. With real life application, the students will be able to see that they can attain success through STEAM education.

Expected Outcome(s)

. The dash robot will provide the students with a practical application of the STEAM concepts we will be learning. Attendance, engagement, participation and test scores will be tracked to prove the effectiveness of the lesson and or activities. In the beginning of the trial we will introduce the Dash robot and let the students know the specific days when the robot will be used during the STEAM lesson. Also, we will inform the students when the Dash robot won’t be used in the STEAM lesson. We are anticipating that the student’s attendance will improve throughout all STEAM lessons, but definitely lessons where the Dash robot is used. These anticipated result will further stress the importance of incorporating STEAM lessons and activities into our lessons. As mentioned before, our students face a lot of risk factors. These risk factors can affect their ability to perform well in school
