Goal

Our goal for Science STEM Night is an evening of hands-on science activities for students and their families to do together. These events aim to engage participants in hands-on experiences, foster curiosity, and promote learning.

What will be done with my students

Students will see that science is fun by participating in hands-on experiments that are inquiry-based, yet fun and educational at the same time. The experiments are chosen to support the 4th and 5th grade state standards. Students will learn about chemical reactions, through experiments such as making a lava lamp and elephant toothpaste. Other experiment aluminum boat teaches students about physics concepts like buoyant force and density. These are just a few examples of some of the experiments that will be offered during Science Night.

Benefits to my students

Hands on science activities for students and families to complete together. It gives families a chance to see what their children are learning and take an active role in supporting their learning at home. It provides students with meaningful, purposeful learning and application of that learning. It also helps students build their teamwork and communication skills. These experiments will help them make a connection to the skills taught in class and reinforce memories.
