Goal
I would like new badminton rackets and Birdies for PE. This equipment does not last in a PE class. The frames and birdies are fragile and barely last with heavy use and large numbers. We use them with 700 students for about 8 weeks. I like to have enough for each child to be able to practice by themselves until they are ready for partner work and game work. After the heavy use, some have to be thrown away. Buying good quality ones help them last much longer. If you use a different type of ball it does not give the students the same challenge as the birdie. The birdie travels slow and then drops like a regular ball. Playing badminton authentically really is fun and challenging.
What will be done with my students
Every child has equipment means maximum participation. Maximum participation means skills have a chance to improve. When skill improves, student's confidence improves and many other areas improve as well. Confident student do well in life. When skill improves, this carries over in learning new skills.
Benefits to my students
With this equipment, students will all be able to participate and meet the state standards.
