Goal
The goal of my project is for children to have a quiet comfortable space to enjoy independent reading.
What will be done with my students

Independent Reading...
Offers the opportunity to develop habits, attitudes, and tastes as a reader
Builds students' mileage and stamina as readers
Allows students to exercise full control of the reading process
Provides opportunities to share thinking about books with other readers through discussion and writing about reading
Allows readers to apply independently what they have learned through whole-group minilessons, guided and shared reading lessons, and book clubs."
My goal in the classroom is to provide the students with novels that will grab their attention and speak to them - making them want to read and become lifelong readers. I want to provide them a space where they can relax and enjoy that chosen book.
Benefits to my students
I expect to build lifelong readers. Not just for them to be successful in my classroom for this year but for them to enjoy the written word so much they continue that love of reading for years. If given the opportunity to learn about what they enjoy in reading and a space to enjoy that reading I am building that foundation for them.

4 comfortable seats for independent reading and complete box sets of series that are popular with third graders for independent reading choices from several different genres.
