Goal
The goal of this project is to obtain the necessary materials to teach phonemic awareness to my students so they will learn how to decode and encode words as they read and spell. My instruction will include speech-sound awareness by mapping and graphing phonemes.
What will be done with my students
Phonemic awareness is important for beginning readers and writers to be able to break down words into phonemes and understand the alphabetic principle. With these materials, I will instruct my students how to use phonemes to build words.
Benefits to my students
Students will be able to map and graph phoneme sounds to encode and decode words as they read and spell.
