Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Our AGP program is thriving, supporting over 100 students in K-5 and empowering them through enrichment opportunities in science, math, language arts, STEM and more! As we are not homeroom teachers, we are not designated technology such as laptops to use with our students. We have applied for grants and spent our own money buying tablets but many aren't compatible with programs we use in the classroom regularly. With the addition of 15 Chromebooks and chargers, each student in our classes would be able to access the programs needed to work towards their goals.

Goal

Our AGP program is thriving, supporting over 100 students in K-5 and empowering them through enrichment opportunities in science, math, language arts, STEM and more! As we are not homeroom teachers, we are not designated technology such as laptops to use with our students. We have applied for grants and spent our own money buying tablets but many aren't compatible with programs we use in the classroom regularly. With the addition of 15 Chromebooks and chargers, each student in our classes would be able to access the programs needed to work towards their goals.

What will be done with my students

With the addition of 15 Chromebooks and chargers, each student in our classes would be able to access the programs needed to work towards their tech, research, service based learning, coding, complex thinking and creativity goals. We use programs like code.org. Minecraft for Education, Khoot, Prodigy, iMovie, FlipGrid and more to enhance student learning and expose our students to technology that creates building blocks for future learning and careers.
We serve over 100 students in our program, grades K-5 and are currently working with only 7 laptops. There is a great need for more access to technology and all of the amazing learning that is available and at their fingertips!

Benefits to my students

We typically have a maximum of 25 students in each class and the addition of the Chromebooks would allow a 1-1 student to device ratio. This will allow students to work through Iready acceleration lessons, create PowerPoints and videos of their research findings, utilize programs like MyOn which give access to literally THOUSANDS of new texts and so much more. All AGP students participate in Day of Code and with more devices, each student will be able to interact with the activities individually! There are so many benefits to added technology, specifically as it relates to meet students gifted education goals.
