What will be done with my students

The project is to permanently implement schoolwide positive behavior initiative. The full implementation timeframe is by April 2022. We will S.O.A.R (Self-Respect, Optimism, Acceptance, Responsibility) here at Walden Lake Elementary home of the Eagles.

To implement any curriculum requires behavioral management in the classroom. By reducing exclusionary discipline, students will spend more time learning or getting the help they may need, especially where their behaviors are
manifestations of learning disabilities, trauma, mental health disorders, or other factors that school services may be able to help address.
The root of behavioral problems is directly correlated with social emotional learning deficiency. Through positive behavior reinforcement the emotional maturity of students is increased.

The behaviors such as being ready, respectful, and responsible will encourage behaviors that research shows positive educational outcomes.

The behaviors are defined as follows:
Being ready is defined as coming to school with supplies and sitting quietly waiting for instruction. Being respectful is defined as courteous, mannerly, attentive, and humble. Being responsible is defined as attendance above 90%, accountable for behaviors, and doing the things you are supposed to do.

The behaviors will be reinforced by a schoolwide economy. These Fish bucks will be given by all school staff in response to positive behavior.

Once per month there will be a schoolwide SOAR Store Day. During this timeframe students will shop to using the Fish Bucks.

As staff buy in is critical for success there is a staff version of the Fish Bucks. Leadership is by example and increases success through modeling.

Benefits to my students

For many years to come the following are expected outcomes:
Reduced major disciplinary infractions
Improvement in aggressive behavior, concentration, prosocial behavior, and emotional regulation
Improvements in academic achievement
