Goal

Being a STEM school, we want to provide more non-fiction reading opportunities to our students.

What will be done with my students

There is a great interest in animals in our school and a lack of books to fulfill that interest. I want to create a Wild About Reading section in the media center that would focus on animals and include books for all grade levels. A reading nook will be created to house these books and spark interest in reading non-fiction books.

Benefits to my students

We expect students will find a love for reading non-fiction books with a subject in which they already have an interest. This will increase check out in the non-fiction section and improve reading motivation and skills.

Budget Narrative

Books will be purchased using best available deals from vendors to maximize the amount of books. A specific bookcase and furniture will be purchased to create a special area in the library for this section.
