Goal
I want to motivate students to read books by offering access to Book Taco. Book Taco is a website that provides a platform offering wide variety of reading related activities where students can:
•Log their daily reading time
•Write about the books they read
•Create Book Talk videos
•Master book related vocabulary
•Work on graphic organizers
•Earn rewards with high level engagement
What will be done with my students
Book Taco offers free accounts that are limited to only 35 students, with limited access to the features. I would like to offer the full membership to all students and teachers at our economically disadvantaged school. Book Taco quizzes will give us opportunities to incentivize and award students for their reading accomplishments. This platform supports many of the Florida ELA standards, for a full list of the standards go to https://tinyurl.com/s8rvlfc.
Benefits to my students
Teachers and students will be able to access Book Taco quizzes, graphic organizers, reading logs, and more! I hope that by offering this fun platform, the school culture will become excited about literacy. Students will be motivated to finish reading more books so that they can earn prizes and create book talks of their own. This will perfectly tie in to the other incentive program that I hope to launch; brag tags!
All students will also have access to the new library books purchased with HEF grant money. Lastly, the CCTV system will be upgraded with a new audio mixer. This will enable the entire school to hear daily audiobook excerpts, book trailers, and storytime videos. This provides daily reading for pleasure and should spark interest in reading new books.

The quote that I received from Book Taco was for the entire school plus for me to be the Super User and have access to Professional Development to help me and other teachers fully utilize the program.
