Goal

The students will self-manage their progress for 2017-2018 school year, using pre/ post assessment data, in addition to data collected throughout the year in reading, math and writing. These data charts would motivate student growth.

What will be done with my students

Students will be responsible for maintaining and managing their portfolio. Dividers will be used, per assessment and graphed onto grid paper. Although assessments are given three times during the year using: Brigance. A monthly data log will supplement reading progression using Running Records, IStation, STMath and CORE. Additional data will be collected by students, using Reading Modules provided by the district.

Benefits to my students

This documentation will be used to facilitate learning in the classroom, allowing the facilitator to regularly evaluate student progression in reading/ writing groups and encourage collaboration by all students. Students will be directed to self-manage their depth of knowledge when engaging in the reading experience. But most importantly, students will expand their learning by continuous self-observation and documentation.

Describe the Students

My six students are enrolled in the School Based Mental Health unit at Calvin Hunsinger EBD School. All students were previously diagnosed with Emotionally/Behavior Disabled (EBD). All six students will be returning to the SBMH program (including a female). Three of the six students are Tier 3, reading two grade levels below (based on post-assessment data and IStation) and the remaining three students are Tier 2, reading at least one grade level below. One student has been retained to 3rd grader, one has been promoted to 4th grade and the four have been promoted to fifth grade. All students receive free or reduced lunch.
