Statewide Reach for Local Impact

FIND IT FUND IT FLORIDA

Attendance is an area where we are struggling to provide incentives for students to attend school and to be on time everyday. We would like to begin a new incentive program that recognizes students that are here on time everyday in the OTC (on time club). Students who are here on time everyday would earn a charm for their ID badge chain, which also holds the academic awards. Students would be recognized monthly for bell to bell attendance, on time and present everyday as well as
most improved attendance behaviors. Monthly assemblies are held to recognize students and during this time we would recognize these students and for each student who exhibits the above behaviors in regards to attendance their name would be entered in a raffle and we would draw for a variety of items that students have been surveyed to determine their interests, including sports equipment, craft kits, books,

What will be done with my students

Attendance action plan-
August- survey students about incentives for academic, behavior and attendance.
Each month from October to May a school wide celebration will be held to celebrate students in the OTC club as well as bell
to bell attendance and perfect attendance.
Behavior action plan-
In conjunction with the attendance celebration- students who have received stingray salutes will be celebrated along with the
class with the most salutes.
Academic action plan-
At the close of each grading period (4 times per year) school wide assemblies are held for 3rd- 5th grade for achieving Honor
Roll and Principal list.
We will evaluate the success by reviewing the numbers of students achieving Honor Roll, Principals List, receiving Stingray Salutes and our attendance data. A post survey will also be given to the students to determine how much of their achievements can be attributed to extrinsic motivators. While the goal of education is for children to intrinsically motivated, for many we must begin with extrinsic motivators and
move to intrinsic.

Benefits to my students

Increasing attendance and on time behaviors are life long skills that will develop good habits for future employment. Increased attendance will boost grades as well.
