Goal

The goal of my “Fall into Reading" project is to engage my preschool students with disabilities to develop love for reading and to increase their understanding of book concepts. 

 

What will be done with my students

Students will meet with the teacher in small groups to explore variety of books. They will be introduced to book concepts such as front, back, top, bottom, author, title, illustrator etc. Students will learn reading progression and sight words, We will also learn how to retell the story and answer questions. After reading a book students will produce a fine art project depicting the main idea in the book. 

 

Benefits to my students

My preschool children with disabilities will begin enjoying variety of books and increase their understanding of book concepts and reading comprehension. In addition they will also increase their fine motor skills while working on a projects. My students will be more successful when entering Kindergarten and carry the love for books for the rest of their life.
