Impact to My Classroom

# of Students Impacted: 10

Thank you for the watchmider help.  I have utilized these watches for a few years now and it is so useful in satsfying the requirements of differentiating instruction in the special education setting.  The individualized reminders to the students based on their academic and behavioral needs are priceless and effective in reaching individual goals the children have.

Original Grant Overview

Goal

My goal is to make my children the most independant they can become so they can be functional adults after their time in Pinellas county.

What will be done with my students

The watchminder tool is an effective way to personaliize a watch to give a reminder to the student to follow or work toward a goal on the childs IEP. I want to get my children to the point where they are helping to track their own data they need to attain on their Individualized Education Plan. By doing this with my children I can help them self-advocate for their needs in the classroom and in life.

Benefits to my students

Children can use the WatchMinder to self-monitor and reinforce positive behaviors (like "Pay Attention" "Be Positive" and "Focus") throughout their school day.

Students can use the WatchMinder to cue themselves to participate in class discussions and to remind themselves to copy down and submit their homework assignments.

Children are also using WatchMinder to manage their medication regiments throughout the school day.

Describe the Students

In my classroom we have students with Autism. I have both low and high functioning students.

Budget Narrative

The watches will be $69 per watch. I would like my class to all have one including myself. This would mean getting 11 watches at this price.
