My goal is for students to immerse themselves in language arts combined with fine arts. I want to teach them the beauty of poetry and become inspired by the language to extend their poetry lesson into an artistic expression.
I would like to have a variety of poetry books to use with the lessons, to show students how different forms of poetry can evoke different visual images. Students will experiment with writing their own poems and will then use different art mediums to illustrate their poems. They will explore poetry from around the world and across history. This will tie into an art project that focuses on the historical time period of the poems studied, or the cultural influence from where the poems originated. This lesson will continue throughout the year and will apply to all grade levels. This grant will supplement my current curriculum goals.
Students will be exposed to poetic forms from around the world which will enhance their understanding of language history, social studies, and variety of artistic forms including painting, sculpture, and textile design.
These items will be purchased from Sax Art supplies to enhance the Passion For Poems curriculum. They will be used to instruct Pre K through 5th Grade students.
