Goal

The way to get kids to read and love it is to let them choose their own books, in their own interest level. Recent reports from varied studies found that children's reading for pleasure outside school had a significant impact on their educational attainment.  

 

What will be done with my students

Students will have the opportunity to take home and read the entire series of Junie B. Jones books. After reading their book, students will complete an Accelerated Reader Quiz. 

 

Benefits to my students

Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading management program used at our schools as a supplement for the reading curriculum. The A.R. program is a computerized program that tests reading comprehension. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. Students gets a percentage of these points based on how many of the test questions they get right. The program tracks their progress over the course of the school year.
